What a day!

Mike and I have road in many places, but this has been unreal!
Today we want down the mountain and took narrow back roads along a river bed below the mountains for a couple hundred miles. Then back into the mountains to end a day of awesome sweeping, banked sharp curves and turns for miles. Like racing except for the Animals and oncoming buses trucks etc on at times less than a one lane road.

Chilly sunny am leaving Mount Abu

Beautiful Mount Abu

Tuesday Morning

Good Morning! Wow, hot showers and beds with some foam! We are in a tourist area (Mostly the people of India tour here) so the accommodations were a little more expensive ($30.00 or so) but completely worth it. No outside noise at all. Compared to Sunday night we slept at the corner of the railroad tracks and the main road.

I am getting behind on the blog other than pictures. Keeping things in chronological order is very difficult with lack of Wi-Fi. Most posts lately have been from my phone which has been even more challenging, but we both hope our efforts are enjoyed a bit.

First of all we are having a blast! I cannot say enough how wonderful the people of India have been! We even need to give the English a little credit for these motorcycles they built. Having ridden in mountains the last couple days, we have given them a true test. Great bikes!

So where are we at and where are we going? I have no idea and either does Mike. We have a couple more days and we need to be in Udaipur to catch a train (with our motorcycles) back to Delhi.... an idea we came up with along the way. Or original plan was to ride further west and not this far south, but part of the fun is to keep riding and not worry about direction so much.

We accidentally ran into this mountainous area. We had no idea prior to the trip we would be riding in hills much less mountains. It the states these would be flat safe roads littered with cation signs etc. Here they are primarily single lane banked sweeping sharp turns that are a blast to ride on. You can almost watch the expression on the monkeys faces as you round a sharp corner to know if there is an on coming vehicle.

We walked about 5k's last night up to Sunset Point here in Mount Abu. The entire town seems to go to this as if the sun may never rise again. Markets lined the walking path up to the top. Mike picked up some fresh roasted peanuts and decided to share one with a monkey, who apparently wanted them all and attacked Mike. It was hilarious! They had horse rides you could take to the top and these cart rides similar to radio flyer wagons which kids and young men would push to the top. Walking up was difficult enough... It seemed the overweight people are the ones that took the offer for a wagon ride. The young men and children pushing these carts were about 75 pounds. I helped a few of them along the way for fun. (watching them try to stop the carts coming down was a whole different story!)

We even had a tv in the room and watched a bit of the Oscars last night. So we are well rested and getting ready to roll. Hopefully we can get this posted on the way out!

Miscellaneous pictures

Jeff says I don't post enough

The great Royal Enfield 350 bullet

I underestimated this motorcycle, but it has pulled me up many mountains, laughs at the extremely rough roads, and willingly starts every morning. A very fun bike to drive

Minnesota gopher fan!

This cute kid is begging mike to buy him some watermelon at sunset point on Mount Abu tonight. Only after do we notice he has a Minnesota Gopher shirt on!

Pretty cool since we have not even seen one American traveler yet....

Since leaving Dehli we also have not seen any motorcycle tourist at all.

We must be CRAZY! :)

More local wildlife!

I pulled over in a town and almost got crushed by a bad elephant driver!

One happy girl!

We both miss out daughters!
